Implied Consent Laws

BAC and field sobriety tests fall below ‘implied consent laws.’ If the driver refuses to surrender to alcohol consumption tests, there are repercussions that include possible suspension of the driver’s license for up to a year. Punishment varies between states.

As you will see in the following pages, drinking and driving are not the only alcohol-related offenses. Serving alcohol to minors or inebriated persons, public intoxication, open container laws and other infringements can be very grave as well.
