DUI Statistics

Statistics are understandable that although driving while drunk has notably decreased with increased education, this is still a foremost concern for law enforcement officials:

  • It is estimated that an alcohol-related crash occurs every 32 minutes.
  • 55% of those killed in single-vehicle crashes on weekend nights had BAC levels of .08 or higher.
  • The most hazardous time for alcohol-related crash deaths is 9pm to midnight.
  • About three in every ten Americans will be caught up in an alcohol-related crash at some time in their lives. (NHTSA, 2001)
  • One-third of DUI convictions are not first-time offenders, which shows most individuals do not learn from their faults.
